Multiple bruises of different ages, multiple fructure ribs at different stages of healing, and infected dry burn at the sole of the foot were all signs of child abuse in the case. Burns on the sole of the foot were caused by a metallic surface. Old nail abrasions on the sides of the neck were noticed-the step mother later admitted that she used to put pressure on the child's neck to put him into sleep. A subdural hematoma was the ultimate cause of death.
